Our Story

Founded by a group of dedicated healthcare professionals with a combined 75+ years of healthcare experience and led by our Medical Director, Edward M. Tavel, M.D., our team at MRI Wellness recognized that the current healthcare system in the United States tends to be reactive in nature. In fact, some would even go as far as to say our current system of detecting illness is “broken” when it comes to detecting disease.

The majority of illnesses that affect our long-term health are often diagnosed later in their course, when treatment options become more challenging and outcomes become less certain. Endless insurance company denials, prior authorizations, and appeals often leave us without the care we need to move forward in a timely manner.

In fact, in the United States today, there are only four cancer screening tests available to screen for malignancy and the three big silent cancer killers—pancreatic cancer, kidney cancer, and ovarian cancer—have no screening test available whatsoever in our current healthcare model. Nearly 50% of these cancers are detected at later stages, thus lowering the chance of a more favorable outcome.*
